As a midwife I have the honor of watching families make important decisions for their new baby and growing family.  One of those decisions is how and with what will they carry their baby.  I encourage families to carry their babies close to their bodies, close to their heart. Many different styles of carriers come and go. Slings are ancient.  They have been used to carry babies in many cultures by mothers, fathers, family members, and friends from the beginning of time- keeping the baby warm, cozy, safe and moving along with the family rhythm of the day.    What I love about Autumns slings is the quality and care she puts into each piece she makes.  Autumns gift in color and design sense is undeniable and sets her slings aside from others.  They are stylish, sturdy, and one of a kind.  Autumn is an incredible mother to three, a role model in our community.  She and her family are committed to low impact, green living - again a role model.  Choosing an Autumn sling you not only get a beautiful way to be close to your baby, you also are supporting an amazing women! ~Julie

Our Autumn Sling has been a priceless addition to life with a new baby. When Noah was a newborn, one of the only ways he would sleep was when he was being walked around cradled in his beautiful and comfortable sling. It was the perfect little cocoon for him then, and now that he is 5 months old it works well in all sorts of different positions. Noah is the kind of baby who doesn’t like to get put down at all, so being able to carry him around in his sling and still have our hands free is so important. Right now our favorite position is the hip carry, and there is plenty of fabric to pull it tight and snug him in if he falls asleep. I can tell that this sling will be a part of our lives for a long time, with Noah and with future children. It is so well made, and the fabric and stitching so absolutely beautiful, I am sure it will become a family heirloom. ~Sarah

I will always remember and cherish the early morning walks with my newborn son in his Autumn Sling. His mama would get some sleep back at home while I walked him as he slept so peacefully snuggled in the soft beautiful fabric nuzzled in against my chest. The sling is exceptionally well made…much better than other carriers we considered. I really appreciated the ease of taking him in and out of the sling, and how easy it was to adjust it to fit perfectly. We could even transfer it back and forth…Dad to Mom to Grandma…very easily and without disturbing our son. Now that his older it is useful in a variety of positions enabling for hands free parents and a happy baby. We also use it for random things such as a blankie in the car or padding in the seat in a grocery cart. I would highly recommend an Autumn Sling for carrying and bonding with your little one. And to the Dad’s out there who are reluctant to wear a sling…you don’t know what you are missing. Give it a try and you will be so glad you did. ~Shawn

I ordered two custom-made baby slings from Autumn Slings and Things as baby shower gifts. When I received the slings I was extremely pleased with the high quality of the materials and workmanship. The fabrics she chooses are beautiful, she has a great eye for coordinating fabrics. Both of the new moms were so pleased by the slings. They said they were one of the best gifts they had received. The slings came with an easy to follow instruction sheet showing various ways to carry the baby with the mother. Both mothers have told me that they use them all the time and that the slings are versatile and can be worn in a number of ways. They allow the mother to keep her baby snuggled closely to her while she performs her day-to-day activities and chores. The mothers and I highly recommend Autumn Slings for any new mother. I wish that I would have had one when I was a new mother. I think that I have found the perfect gift for every baby shower that I attend from now on. ~Linda

When my first daughter, Willa, was born, she always wanted to be carried.  I practice attachment parenting and really never put her down unless she was content.  I had borrowed a friends store-bought sling and it was horrible.  I never felt comfortable using it.  It always felt like she was going to slide out of the bottom.  We traveled around Scotland when she was four months old and this was the only thing I had to carry her in.  My arms were always tired and sore.  I wish I had an Autumn Sling for that trip!  My second daughter, Nettie, was born when Willa was two and a half.  I was so worried about how I was going to care for a newborn and keep a high-needs toddler busy all day.  Luckily I got an Autumn Sling before she was born.  She was born at home and I started using the sling right away as I got back into my routine of caring for Willa.  Thinking back, it seems she almost lived in it, close to my heart, for the first year of her life.  I couldn't believe how comfortable it was to wear her and how easily it adjusted to different positions as she grew.  The beautiful, soft fabric made me feel better about myself as my body readjusted itself to not being pregnant  She could easily nurse, fall asleep, and watch the ever expanding world around her with comfort and security knowing that I was right there with her.  She rarely cried.  I did just about everything with her in the sling; grocery shopping, playing with Willa, folding laundry, eating dinner.  I worked at a farmstand the summer after she was born, and she spent each day in the sling.  The sling was especially helpful to us when she was teething or sick.  It is also wonderful on cold, windy days or in the hot sun, protecting her from the elements.  My heart always goes out to new mothers and their babies when I see them being carried around in heavy, bulky carseats.  If they only knew how much easier things can be with a good sling!  Nettie is now two and a half and we still use the sling whenever we're out and she needs a ride.  I would like to thank Autumn for designing such a wonderful sling.  Without it my first years as a mother of two would have been much harder! – Nikki

Being a mom, it's so easy to lose track of myself.  Buying one of Autumn's slings was a way of saying "I'm going to choose something beautiful for me".  Yes, the sling is practical and it's main purpose is for the kids, but the fabric is so gorgeous that every time I use the sling I feel like it's a decadent treat for me. ~Sarah

We absolutely love our sling, and now that I have a new baby in the house, we'll be able to use it all over again! – Nina
